They Don’t Make Liberals Like They Used To

Make Love Not War

Ah, the 60s and 70s. A time when anti-war liberals embraced the “make love, not war” credo. On that note, I was shocked to read Michelle Malkin’s blog today which, in part, displayed some hate mail she recently received.

I’m sure these people do not represent many civil liberals; nonetheless, these people give the left a very bad name. For good or for ill, we live in a democracy where we can freely debate and express our views. Unfortunately, there just happens to be some who are not articulate enough to participate in a civil debate. Instead, they must resort to using 5th grade playground tactics - spewing hateful, hide-behind-the-Internet-because-I-have-no-guts messages. Would they show the email they wrote to their mothers? Certainly it’s the behavior of these individuals that might make me change my “intelligent design” views and believe that there just might be something to evolutionary theory if they can be used as evidence in support of the missing link.

What goes on in the minds of these true “wackos?” It dumbfounds me that anyone in their right mind could be against war and violence yet send emails that include (and this is the only “clean” portion I could display) things like,

“I hope your [Michelle Malkin's] entire family perishes in a war of your liking.”

I thought right wing religious wackos had a monopoly on racial prejudice and hate speech. I guess I was wrong.

I see the idiot who emailed Michelle from work has been fired. Ah, it’s nice to know there is still a little bit of justice in the world.

Yeah, it’s amazing how quickly news travels. I think there’s a certain anonymity to internet blogging, emailing, etc. that empowers people to say what they might not otherwise say face-to-face. He got what he deserved, but it makes me concerned that media types like Michelle end up having to deal with angry stalkers in their line of work.

Have we lost our Gallant Heros?

The fact that women fought for many years to be taken seriously in the areas of government and public policy, makes attacks on successful women based purely on their looks reveal a deep double standard - not always of men against women, but often of wo…
